Is it made or royal icing or spun sugar?

The base walls are made of pastiage.
The vines are colored royal icing (green and brown gel food coloring)
The gray color on the walls is actual luster dust, painted on in the gin painting process
the flowers, leaves and butterflies are made of pattenice or rolling fondant.... colored again with gel food colors and punched out using punches and cutters desgined for fondant work.

The paw prints are special food coloring markers

The cats are from casting sugar, the marzipan/fondant hybrid and painted with brown food coloring.....

I wanted a windowpane from either a gelatin sheet, attached with royal icing, but I did not have time to make that. And the spun sugar class is in two weeks.....

The surprising thing is.... I am a Hotline cook/chef. My course of study at culinary school is foods based, not pastry.... its just this last class has alot of this old world decorative work.....

Even my job I go back to in Frankfurt Germany, after I graduate in May is on the hotline..... not pastry!

I am enjoying this class though!

Lucky, I just got out of school and it was fast and dirty. You could either do pastry or culinary, year and a half, boom boom boom. It was good, just short. I want to go back some day, But now I got to work....

I am finishing a three year program that was similar.... you could do either. It was tied in with the deaprtment of labor and required you to do so many hours of on the job training. I decided foods first, I needed to be able to have steady work and I'll go back later for pastry. SO I worked in the kitchen as well as went to school for it.

And now, I got to go to work too.....
